Workspace settings

Settings in the sidebar. Anyone with View settings can read them; changing them needs the permission named in each section.

General

Needs Change settings.

Setting	Effect
Workspace name	Shown in the console and in emails
Short name	Part of your CNAME target (<short name>.edge.houseguest.dev) and your Houseguest™ addresses. Cannot change once Houseguest addresses use it
Display time zone	The zone console pages, emails to viewers, reminders and CSV exports use. Unset: each person’s browser zone, and UTC in emails

Security

Needs Change security settings.

Setting	Effect
Console sessions	How long a console sign-in lasts without use: 30 days (default), 7 days, 1 day or 12 hours. Applies to sessions already open
Sign out everywhere	Ends every other member session in the workspace
Second sign-in method	Optional, Required for Owners and Admins, or Required for everyone. See Second sign-in step
Terminal sharing	On (default) or Off. Off refuses houseguest share for everyone in the workspace; shares running now carry on until they end. See Share from your computer
Audit streaming (SIEM)	See Activity, requests and insights
Single sign-on	OIDC or SAML 2.0 for console members, on Early access and the Business plan. See Single sign-on. SCIM is not available yet

Viewers & email

Needs Change settings.

Setting	Effect
Allowed viewer domains	Invites and list entries must be at one of these domains or under it. Empty allows any address. People already invited or listed keep access
Default preview life	What New preview preselects: 4 hours, 1, 3 (default) or 7 days
Longest preview	Lowers the longest a preview can be open: invites 7, 3 or 1 days; standing access 1 year, 90 or 30 days. Previews already open keep their end
Longest viewer session	Caps standing access’s viewer session length: no cap, 90, 30, 7 or 1 days, or 8 hours
Email sender name	The name invites, codes and reminders come from. Default: “Workspace name via Houseguest”. Console sign-in codes always come from “Houseguest”

Danger zone

Owners only.

• Transfer ownership: type the short name to confirm; the chosen member becomes Owner, and you become Admin unless you tick Stay an Owner.
• Delete workspace: type the short name to confirm. Every preview ends, every agent is removed, members and their sessions are removed, and domains and addresses are released. Everyone is signed out. This cannot be undone.
